The ITP Awards

The ITP Awards are back and once again, it’s personal. The awards celebrate you and all the things you do. There are 23 categories to enter, honouring every area of the business. So, if you have created a video of Spielbergian proportions, we want to watch it. If you have designed a steady flow of international standard covers, we want to see them. If you have produced an ear grabbing podcast, we want to hear it and if you are part of a team that produces quality on a daily basis while inspiring those around you, we want to know about it.

Business Cover of the Year

The Business Cover of the Year will be awarded to a memorable magazine cover that stands out for originality and impact. As well as creative design elements and methods used, innovations in production can be used as supporting evidence where they may have enhanced the final product. The winning entry will have captured a topic or significant industry figure in a unique way, and details of how the cover was conceptualized and executed should be included in the submission. The brand and cover date must be detailed within the submission and the cover itself must be submitted within supporting documents.

Consumer Cover of the Year

The Consumer Cover of the Year will be awarded to a memorable magazine cover that stands out for originality and impact. As well as creative design elements and methods used, innovations in production can be used as supporting evidence where they may have enhanced the final product. Details of an intriguing subject or highly sought celebrity that features on the cover should be supported with details of how the cover was secured and captured. The brand and cover date must be detailed within the submission and the cover itself must be submitted within supporting documents.

Editorial Video of the Year

The award for Editorial Video of the Year will go to a video, video series or videoed podcast that has used engaging and captivating techniques to create an enduring and impactful video presence for the brand. The winning entry will have enhanced the brand’s reach and market position considerably by creating a compelling production that appeals to its audience. The production costs are irrelevant and will not be a factor in judging so nominations are welcome from the full range – from high-end productions to videos shot on a mobile phone alike. Supporting evidence should include online viewership, likes and comments figures as well as any other technical innovations employed and challenges overcome to deliver quality video content. The brand, date of airing and links to the video must be detailed within the submission.

Commercial Video of the Year

The award for Commercial Video of the Year will go to a production that was made in house on behalf of a client. The video will be able to demonstrate technical and creative excellence as well as communicate the message/information that the client had, clearly to its intended target audience. Details of the client’s brief, budget and production timelines should be included in the submission to support the nomination as well as information on how the final product was used and viewership figures where possible. The brand/client, date of airing and links to the video must be detailed within the submission.

Photo Shoot of the Year

The Photo Shoot of the Year award will go to a shoot that can clearly demonstrate creativity, ingenuity and innovation. As well as being on brand for the product it appeared in, the photo shoot will have presented its subject in a memorable way that will have had an impact on readers - whether it is a shoot with the most in demand celebrity, a product shoot of the latest technology, or a site visit capturing the newest restaurant opening. Nominations should also demonstrate how the photo shoot was effectively used on social media channels and the audience it reached. The brand and publication date must be detailed within the submission. The photo shoot itself must be included within supporting documents.

Best Feature/Interview of the Year

This award will go to the writer or team that has produced the standout feature or interview of the past twelve months, exhibiting insightful, entertaining and captivating material in a print, digital and/or video platform. In addition to the feature itself, nominations should include background information such as the extent of research undertaken, challenges and competition to secure the interview and narrative on the significance of the feature/interview to the intended audience. The name of the feature/interview, date it was first published and title it appeared in must be detailed within the submission. Links to or a pdf of the feature/interview itself should be included with the nomination’s supporting material.

Best News Story of the Year

The award for Best News Story of the Year will go to an individual who has delivered a thought provoking, informative and thorough report on a significant news event. Open to entries from brands covering any audience, examples of the Best News Story of the Year could range from an in-depth geo-political report; breaking entertainment news or an exclusive industry specific expose. The name of the story, date it was first published and title that carried the story must be detailed within the submission. Links to or a pdf of the article itself should be included with the nomination’s supporting material.

Celebrity Collaboration / Involvement with Brand of the Year

The Celebrity Collaboration/Involvement with Brand of the Year will go to an event, interview, project or series which successfully collaborated with a celebrity and maximized the partnership to reach the largest audience possible. This award recognises a brand or project that has aligned with a high profile public figure and utilized the collaboration to its full potential across all platforms. The social media footprint of the partnership should therefore be detailed in the nomination to demonstrate the audience reached. The submission should include details of the project, how the collaboration came about, the objectives and any statistics which show exceptional social reach from the partnership. Links and pdfs to the editorial as well as pictures chronicling the collaboration should also be included within supporting material.

Best Commercial Campaign

The Best Commercial Campaign Award will go to a commercial deal that successfully delivered and over exceeded a clients’ brief and expectations with “out of the box” solutions and creative execution. Examples may include deals that have successfully used multiple platforms (print, digital, social, video) to deliver a client’s message; employed innovative ways of using established routes to market and/or utilized a variety of brands to create a campaign for the client that has delivered evidential ROI. The CRM order number, as well as details of the client, date of campaign and value must be detailed within the submission.

Awards Event of the Year

The Awards Event of the Year will go to an event that showcases exceptional planning and execution. Judged on innovation, success and creativity of the event plus evidence of optimal leverage of the link between the publication(s) and the awards brands. Nominations should include evidence of original activations, audience engagement, WOW moments, sponsor expectations being surpassed and the legacy that the awards have left for the brand. The social media reach and how well the event hashtag performed is also a key factor to include in nominations. The name, date and venue of the event must be detailed within the submission. Pictures and video links should be included within supporting documents.

Informational Event of the Year

The Informational Event of the Year will go to a conference, forum, summit, talk or meeting that educated, informed and inspired its audience. The winning event will have included expert speakers, relevant topics and a cohesive agenda that provided delegates with clear ROI on their time to attend the event. The name, date and venue of the event must be detailed within the submission. Pictures and video links should be included within supporting documents.

Party/Social Event of the Year

As the name suggests, the Party/Social Event of the Year will have been an unmissable occasion and an event that displayed creativity, excellent execution and guest interaction. An exclusive gathering, the event will have made loud noise in the city it was held in and beyond. The winning entry should be able to show why invites to the party/social occasion were so highly prized and give details on the features, celebrities and entertainment aspects that contributed towards it being such a memorable night. The attention that the event received on social media and statistics on the audience that it reached online are also important aspects to include in nominations. The name, date and venue of the event must be detailed within the submission. Pictures and video links should be included within supporting documents.

Global Reach Achievement / Highest Social Engagement by Brand

This award will go to a marketing campaign, editorial piece or event that has had a significant global impact and can demonstrate how it has reached a substantial audience outside of the Middle East, enhancing the reputation of the brand. This is a broad category in that it could go to an event that has caught the attention of mass markets outside the Middle East; a brand that has successfully entered new geographies or a collaboration with a client, partner, influencer or celebrity that has gone viral. Clear evidence of organic increased followers, likes, comments and shares from the brand should be presented in the nomination, and the overall reach should be centre to submissions. Supporting material could also include social media reports, international press clippings and any other evidence that clearly presents the wide global audience that the project reached.

Editorial Person of the Year

The Editorial Person of the Year will go to an individual that has, above all, delivered consistently exceptional content throughout the year. This award will be judged on evidence of inspiring editorial leadership, a clear understanding of the nominee’s brand needs and a commitment to reach new heights. The Editorial Person of the Year will be a champion of new media and be committed to increase their brand’s audience through traditional and innovative mediums. The submission should include examples of high-quality and informative editorial pieces and projects that educate and lead opinion.

Designer of the Year

This award will go to a designer that can show a body of work throughout the year that demonstrates the highest standards of creativity, originality and innovation. Whether working on a specific brand that they have helped to mould into a market leading product or responding to a brief with imaginative vigor, the Designer of the Year will have an impressive, extensive and distinct portfolio. Submissions should highlight the designer’s most accomplished work in 2019 and include examples of their finest covers, layouts, ads and/or presentations.

Sales Person of the Year

The Sales Person of the Year will go to an outstanding individual that has stood out above the rest and delivered consistently high sales figures in challenging market conditions. This award will be judged on the nominee’s professional attitude, working relationships, management and performance as well as their ability and enthusiasm to embrace new mediums to offer clients multiple routes to market. Submissions should show the individual’s major commercial highlights of the year as well as their overall sales figures for 2019.

Events Person of the Year

The Events Person of the Year will have exhibited a passion for events throughout the year and will have consistently delivered guest experiences that have wowed audiences. A clear track record of working effectively with key stakeholders is a must for the Events Person of the Year, in addition to possessing a can do attitude and mastering the skill to multi task. Submissions should include details of creative and unique activations, seamless execution of challenging sponsorships and ability to maximize impact at events whilst minimizing spend.

Digital Person of the Year

The Digital Person of the Year will go to an individual that has shown expertise in their field throughout the year, regularly completing projects ahead of schedule and above expectations. Nominees should be able to exhibit how they have worked effectively with different departments to ensure that digital campaigns are delivered, new websites are launched and operating systems are improved in line with the company’s vision to pioneer digital media in the region.

Photographer/Videographer of the Year

The Photographer/Videographer of the Year will be a creative, hard-working and innovative individual who constantly strives for the best shot. Nominations should give evidence of being able to get the most from their subjects and creating photo or video shoots that live long in the memory. Submissions detailing the most accomplished shoots that the photographer/videographer has spearheaded should be accompanied by extensive examples of their work throughout 2019.

Central Services Person of the Year

(HR, Procurement, Production, Finance, Distribution, Circulation, IT) The award for the Central Services Person of the Year will go to someone who consistently acts as an advocate for others and through their ability to go the extra distance, helps inter-department working relationships to run smoothly. Nominations should show how the nominee has made a difference to their department’s efficiency and how they have regularly worked with colleagues in other departments to help them to be able to do their jobs better, communicating well, managing expectations and delivering above them. Submissions may include evidence of projects that they have collaborated on, testimonials from line manager and/or peers and case studies of initiatives that have brought in revenue or saved the company significant costs.

Office Management Person of the Year

(Admin, Drivers, Mailroom, HSE, Reception, Caterers and Housekeeping) This award will honour an individual who has played a key role in making sure the ITP office runs smoothly every day by carrying out their duties with reliability, passion and effectiveness. Nominations should show how the individual has excelled in their position making them an invaluable employee and how their positivity and professionalism also makes them an outstanding ambassador of the company. Supporting material with nominations may include testimonials from colleagues, efforts to broaden skillsets and examples of having gone beyond the call of duty for the company.

Team of the Year

The Team of the Year will go to a team for a regular output of outstanding projects that have shown innovation, excellence and creativity, whilst over delivering on objectives and commercial ambitions. Nominations should give evidence of consistently high quality work that has been achieved by exhibiting the best values of team work and cooperation. Supporting material with nominations may be in the form of a portfolio of work produced as a team, reports outlining particular audience or commercial successes and collaborations where the team came together particularly well to accomplish their collective goals.

Outstanding Achievement Award

The Outstanding Achievement Award will go to an individual who has made a special contribution to ITP Media Group’s success by not only excelling in their role, but by exhibiting admirable values, ethics and effort to contribute to a better overall work experience. The winner of the Outstanding Achievement Award will be able to point to a track record of going the extra mile, helping colleagues beyond expectations and overcoming challenges with a can do attitude and a smile on their face. Supporting material for this award may include testimonials, evidence of prolonged success in their role/roles or citations from clients and external stake holders that they have worked with.
