Entries to the Electrical Project of the Year category should showcase electrical engineering work, completed or nearing completion, within the 12 months to 13th September 2017. To be successful, entries need to showcase an electrical system design or installation that has made a distinctive contribution to a GCC project. They should highlight any innovative solutions to particular architectural or structural requirements, any new technologies adopted or existing ones refined, or any elements of the design or installation which maximise energy efficiency and safety. The winning project will represent a significant advance in the design of electrical systems in the region be a noteworthy addition to the achievements of the region’s construction industry. Please provide specific information on noteworthy aspects of the MEP project, such as potential energy or water savings, or long term operational expenditure savings. To be successful, entries need to showcase the contribution of MEP to the overall project. They should highlight any innovative solutions to particular architectural or structural requirements, any new technologies adopted or existing ones refined, or any specific attention paid to logistical requirements, off-site fabrication and supplier sourcing, for example. Please provide specific information on noteworthy aspects of the MEP project, such as potential energy or water savings, or long term operational expenditure savings. Please provide information on which industry standards the designs adhere, such as LEED or GSAS for example. The winning project will be a noteworthy addition to the achievements of the region’s construction industry. The Health and Safety Initiative of the Year recognises singular achievement in the critical field of health and safety. It is awarded to a company that excels in maintaining or improving upon health and safety standards on its project sites, or which has introduced any specific training or awareness initiative within the last 12 months to 13th September 2017.

Their career achievements and stature in the discipline of mechanical engineering promote its continued excellence in the region.

The Mechanical Project of the Year award will go to the entry that showcases mechanical engineering work, completed or nearing completion, within the 12 months to 13th September 2017. Successful entries must showcase a HVAC and/or firefighting system design or installation that has made a distinctive contribution to a GCC project. They should highlight any innovative solutions to particular architectural or structural requirements, any new technologies adopted or existing ones refined, or any elements of the design or installation which maximise energy and water efficiency. The winning project will represent a significant advance in the design of HVAC or firefighting systems in the region. The Consultancy of the Year will be a consultancy of more than 20 employees that continued to build on its solid order book/project list in the preceding calendar, adding to its track record and reputation and continuing to develop and expand its own resource base. The winner will also have adapted to the changed business environment, expanding its services portfolio in line with the latest trends such as energy efficiency.

The winner will also have demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in coping with the constraints of the current business environment.

The award for Executive of the Year recognises a senior executive who can demonstrate the greatest impact on his or her MEP-related business in the last 12-month period. The winning executive could be a general manager, managing director, related deputy, or someone from a ‘C’ suite role. Their company may be operating in any part of the MEP chain, from manufacturers through suppliers, contractors, and consultants.

Entries to the Retrofit Project of the Year category should showcase an MEP retrofit project work, completed or nearing completion, within the 12 months to 13th September 2017. To be successful, entries must showcase a retrofit project that has been design or installation that has made a distinctive contribution to a GCC project. They should highlight project challenges and the innovative solutions adopted to resolve those issues. Entries must also highlight new technologies adopted, or existing ones refined, or any elements of the design or installation which maximise energy efficiency and safety. Please provide specific information on noteworthy aspects of the MEP project, such as potential energy or water savings, or long term operational expenditure savings. MEP Middle East encourages entries to highlight the contributions of all companies involved.

This award recognises any Middle East-based supplier involved in the MEP supply chain, from ductwork to HVAC, plumbing and sanitaryware, security and access control, firefighting and alarm systems, for example. The criteria will be overall involvement in the sector, recognition from major MEP contractors, and any special achievements in terms of logistics, timeframe or special requirements. Entries to the Sustainable Project of the Year category must showcase an MEP project work, completed or nearing completion, within the 12 months to 13th September 2017. To be successful entries must showcase a work that has been designed with sustainability criteria at the forefront of a GCC project. They should highlight any innovative technologies that have been deployed to create a sustainable environment within the architectural or structural requirements. Detailed information on elements of design or installation which maximise energy efficiency is required. Please provide calculations on the long term operational expenditure savings that the implementation of sustainable solutions provide to the building’s owner or operator. The Young Engineer of the Year will be an up-and-coming individual whose outstanding work in the last twelve months has shown an aptitude, skills-set and personality that points to a big future in the MEP sector, where they will carry on the industry’s high level of technical excellence. Nominees should be 30 years old or under. Entrants for Young Engineer of the Year should be under 30 on 13th September 2017.
